You guys? LOL you are obviously pro Sony...a lot. Seriously, biased as hell. If you can quote me on one comment were I said "60 FPS doesn't" matter then tell me. I said it as it is and never said 1080p is unneeded. I said it doesn't make you a better player. Learn to read.....

So what you saying is that, they give a new meaning to "contort my words".

It can make you a better player though.
Higher resolutions allows for smaller details in the distance to be more defined, thus for instance in a first person shooter like Battlefield, it allows you to get that magical headshot easier.
That's in an extreme case however.

Super Extreme... if you can find an article where they explain that professional gamers from COD and let's say Counter Strike benefitted technically immensely from an upgrade of 480p to 720p let me know.

Framerate yes.

No, playing the game on the proper display at the right distance at a good frame rate gives you an advantage, 1080p doesn't mean shit if the conditions are not met. If the screen is too small or too far, you can't see shit anyways, if you get too close, you can't see other areas as well and you'd need more eye tracking. Viewing detail has everything to do with resolution, screen size and optimal gaming view distance, otherwise that 1080p number is just another meaningless number.

And I thought it was practice and commitment.....

PR is always good for a laugh, no matter which corp says it.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I don't need to find a professional article about it, it's logic.
For one, Counter Strike and Call of Duty are close-courters, they wouldn't benefit as much as say any Battlefield game where you might attempt to shoot someone across a very stupidly large map.

As someone who games at 7680x1440 rather than 1920x1080 or 1280x720, there is certainly a difference in Battlefield in such a scenario, console gamers really haven't had to worry about it, because, they used to have no choice it was 720P or it's nothing.

I guess they mean that enemies will look alot more clearer in the distance. A game rendered in 1080p with the enemy at distance of 300m will look alot more clearer and less blurrier than a game rendered in 720p so that players will be able to discern objects and enemies at a farther distance.

Yeah, cause that's really important for 99 % of the games......seriously, this is just marketing...nothing more.

Just like how you guys say that 60fps don't matter. LMAO Downplaying a resolution that your console doesn't necessarily do is pathetic. Increasing resolution has it's benefit too just like increasing the framerate.

I'm a PC dude FYI. ^_^ (Funny how a nintendo fan is calling me out when you clearly demonstrated your lack of knowledge in the importance of resolution. I'm not surprised at all.)

Funny that alot of people like you in this thread don't understand how a higher resolution will affect gameplay. Guys on the consoles obviously won't see much benefit cause alot of games lack the draw distance. (512mb ?! LOL) A higher resolution does MAKE YOU A BETTER PLAYER. Do you even realize how hard it is to hit a target at a long distance with a low resolution ? Clearly you wouldn't because almost none of your games on CONSOLES will go past the 100 meter draw distance. Funny how xbox and nintendo guys in this thread (Even some sony fans themselves irionically.) call out sony for BS'ing when they are indeed correct in what their trying to say. I find it funny how the minority in this thread has the correct answers compared to everyone else LMAO. Just goes to show you how alot of people you yourself included shouldn't even have a say in the matter.

The one biased here is clearly you and the others in this thread and what's even more laughable is your ignorance with the topic at hand.

@Everyone The rest of you guys can continue with your petty console wars. I'm out.

Just like my Reebok Pumps allow me to be a better basketball player when I pump them up?

or play on pc if you think it is so important to be super accurate. and if you don't care too much about and don't play on pc, you won't care about it on console...

and yes i know, knack and killzone aren't on pc

I play games on PC and I never thought to myself "1080p improved my skill alot". It gives you some visual edges but that's rare and not the standard. Sony made it sound like that counts for every game. No it doesn't.  Please jost stop putting words in my mouth.
