The more competition the better, yet I'm really surprised Sony would allow a competitor to it's own PSN shop on Playstation systems.

I mean, if I understand that right, that it's pretty much a separate PSN store on amazon, I can't fucking believe my own eyes 0_o
Why in hell would Sony do this? That's amazing for the consumers but Sony just made competition on their own playground :D

I don't think Sony cares what amazon does with the prices as long as they get their usual share.
|
But wouldn't they get less share now? I mean, we have a new party now, someone needs to make less money. Sony was a monopolist, and since you still need a PlayStation device to play games that you buy, it could have stayed that way and you had to buy from Sony's PSN store.

to add to what other people has said,..
...there is also a benefit to sony in the way in which purchases are made. "points" cards are kind of popular just because a lot of people don't trust giving their credit card info to sony. amazon has waaay more trust on that front. and then amazon supports other options like checking accounts, forgien currency conversions, and invoices. options that sony probably doesn't have the bandwidth or volume to justify supporting.
