Infamous Second Son. It's not the only game I'm getting the console for. I'd never buy a console for just one game, but I do know there will be more coming out for the console and Infamous Second Son is the only one I really want at this time.

I've never bought a console for just one game... That seems like a silly investment. One game catches my attention and usually more follow. I was unhappy with the games released for 3DS and WiiU at launch but I still bought them.

But I am glad that you are interested in buying "X" and wil get a Wii U. I'm sure Nintendo would thank you but I'd be surprised if there is another price cut before it is released.

I'm picking up a launch day Xbone for Ryse, but I will end up using the console for Microsoft exclusives.

If Forza 5 is critically acclaimed, I'll buy Xbox One. If it isn't, I'll be saving a lot of money this holiday.

There's a difference between a game inspiring you to buy a console, and being only able to play one single game on a console you bought. , and I think the OP is asking the former. For what it's worth, if I were only allowed to play one game on a console, I don't think I'd buy it either.

That said, I've been inspired to buy a console because of the release of a single game twice; first a Wii for Metroid Prime 3, and second a DS for Okamiden. I don't think that'll be the case this time around, though. There isn't a single game in any next gen lineup at this point that would be able to convince me on its own to buy a console.

For me a console needs at least 10 must-have games and a promise of more to come. No way I'm buying a console for just one game.
