From personal experience, my friends are hype for the console, but don't have money to buy it and won't buy it until is very cheap with couple of games. They say that they will stick with their PS3 or 360 for a couple more years before making the jump.
As for marketing itself, I have seen a decent amount in my country (more than normal actually), but I don't know if it will pay off.

Well here the hype is quite low. Since they announced the price everyone seems to avoid talking about it here xD.

After all the news that's been developed and released over the last few weeks has literally negated all the hype i had for ALL next gen consoles, not just Sony. And the main reason for such is pretty simple: Lack of Games.
