Forums - Nintendo - CNET lists Wii U as one of the five worst tech gifts of 2013 ( Ouch!!! )

Tagged games:

Have to say that they're pretty damn harsh though. Even with the PS4 and Xbone incoming I fail to see how the Wii U is an avoid at all costs product. It's not that bad.

Yep definitely. I would seriously rethink my relationship if one of my friends got me a Wii U as a gift.

Miss playing Mario and other Nintendo games. I would love for somebody that hates me to give me a WiiU just to spite me.

And unfollow them on Twitter. That will surely hurt their butts.

It's pile on time. It's cool to hate the Wii U as it was the 3DS in the beginning. The same people hating it may soon be loving it and praising it as they did with the 3DS if the Wii U has a comeback. I wouldn't pay them much attention for just jumping in the bandwagon.

Yeah, you just need to remember back to all the negative bile that sites such as cnet and print newspapers (The Sun) were churning out about the 3DS when it had its rough patch. Really, this does not worry me because I've heard it all before. Cnet is a site I haven't logged onto since the 1990's, and I certainly don't need their opinion to help make my mind up about what consoles I should buy.

Tbh, i sometimes wonder who the hell those people who's craving a PS4 or XO is. I certainly don't know anyone personally. Maybe a couple of my PSN friends but they don't count.

Clearly this is one of the media's exaggeration brought on about by the doom messages we hear every often.  I sort of can't blame them since the backlash on Wii U all year round has been abundent.  One, two punches like PS4/Xbox1, games like W101 not selling consoles, etc, have garnered Nintendo with heat, some may even say Xpac heat.  But the thing I could not forgive that they mention was that fact that the Wii U is not a viable gift this holiday season.  With a line-up of stellar games already out or will be out within the next 6 months just around the corner, you'd think a tech-centric organization like CNET would be smarter than go the zinger route.

You know when comedians go after certain people on the hotlist for the month or week, like say Kim Kardasian and her weekend marriage, and getting that little snap at them?  That's how this list comes to with the inclusion of the Wii U.  It wouldn't be bad if say another news orginization like Motley Fool(which they did: http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2013/11/10/nintendo-could-be-forced-to-discontinue-the-wii-u.aspx), but CNET I hold on a higher pedestal since they work mainly on technology.

"Trust me, there are only two consoles everyone wants this year and the Wii U isn't one of them."  Opinion driven journalism.
