Number 40 had a special launch event, very fittingly, at a place called Lizard Lick in the United Kingdom. It was 2D when 2D was most uncool.

I'm going to be super busy until December 2nd, so I won't be able to participate in giving clues to my games/guessing on others until then.

That would have to be Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, any other answer would be wrong.

41. Super Metroid (NR)

Just recently getting to play this game I was reminded of Metroid Fusion by the 2D style and weaponry.  This game is less linear and focuses more on exploration to figure out how you can move forward with the items you have. Each of the different environments poses its own types of obstacles that make playing through the areas significantly different.  There are so many extra items to hunt down and finding all of the secrets is a blast. The main downside was that while the bosses were good, they expressed less originality than what I had hoped. The story was good enough to evoke some emotion at the end as well, which I feel like more games could do.

Hint 40: This highly popular game was originally released in Japan as a special edition to its predecessors, similar to how sequels have been handled since, but was later released in the West as the part of the colorful series' main offering.

I'm in my 30s now, so I think I'll make my hints a bit more difficult. The last several were easy, anyway.

Hint for #39 - This fantasy game might allude towards Russia's invasion of Ukrane, especially considering the invaded kingdom's name.

I don't really consider Uncharted 2 a third person shooter considering how weak of a mechanic it is in the series. Plus it would be way higher on my list

I'd rule out action/adventure, because the adventure gameplay is hardly present.

I would say action/adventure because it does have action but it is restrict by the narrative and pseudo-platforming elements both of which are big parts of modern adventure. I reserve action for something that is mainly action often with a focus on score like God of War and Platinum Games
