#30: Battletoads (NES)

Battletoads is renowned for its difficulty and while I do agree it is incredibly tough (it took many years to finally get through to the end) what struck me most in Battletoads was the variety of the levels present. Each level brings something new to the table (more often than not it is new ways to die), the first level is pretty straight up beat-up em, the second level has you going down a shaft fighting off birds who try to cut off your rope, the third level introduces the merciless speeder track and it goes on like this throughout the whole game up to the last level where your ascend the Dark Queen's tower.

#29 Hint: This is the first game where I enjoyed the wonder that is 4-player local multiplayer. We raced, we battled!

LOL I just listed Mario Kart 64 as my 29.  Is it yours too?

Clues for 29-31:

31. The main protagonist looks a lot like the protagonist from a previous iteration of the franchise. Lots of water.

30. The first had cake, this one has a potato.

Here's what's left from my holiday clues that haven't already been guessed so ppl don't have to dig through the thread.:

This being the first time I have ever put together a top 50 list, it is really odd how many entries I have that are "part 2" in a series. There are tons of them...Behind due to holidays, Clues for:

ALREADY GUESSED= Super Punch-Out 33 - This game is the the somewhat overlooked sequel to the original NES game which contained an inexplicable head to toe pink suit. This sequel, which I very slightly prefer, never contained any actual people.

32 - The second entry in a series based on each level being from a different time period. Fans have been clammoring for an HD sequel.

ALREADY GUESSED = NBA STREET 1 31 - Fans argue on which entry is the best in this series but I prefer part 1. It is an unexpectedly popular basketball game based on the premise of the NBA JAM series. The newest current gen entry was by far the weakest and may have meant the demise of the series.  IT's NOT NBA JAM EXTREME

30 - This entry in the series is the favorite of many and was the first to feature grappling and projectile deflection with the main weapon.  ITS NOT LINK TO THE PAST.  I have that way higher in list

ALREADY GUESSED Mario Kart 64 29 - This is the first 3D entry in this popular series and was meant to be a launch title for N64. It was given more resources including character modeling by Rare and postponed.

ALREADY GUESSED Street Fighter 2 28 - Commonly known as one of the "Big3" in arcade history, this is the 3rd highest grossing arcade game of all time both in units sold and revenue. It is also the only game in the top 5 that is not a "shooting" arcade game.
