Michael-5 said: #35 - Was an exclusive, then it was no longer exclusive, but then a special edition made this an exclusive again. A terrible design choice in the sequel killed all hype for this franchise. Gameplay involves using grapple hooks to climb up ledges, and thermal packs to survive the extreme conditions. |
Lost Planet.

I want to say Resistance but it wasn't a rebirth of any particular series I can think of.
Maybe Killzone 2?

It could be Master of Magic... or not.
32. Call of Duty (PC, also on XBL, PSN)
The humble birth of one of the great gaming franchises in the world today. Call of Duty took the throne of WW2 shooter from Medal of Honor and never looked back. Great multiplayer gameplay and a superb single player campaign that saw you play as an American, British and Russian soldier, each giving a new perspective on the war. The little details scattered throughout the game paid homage to the true stories of WW2 veterans and showed a great respect for the soldiers it depicted, a respect that seems to have been lost in the modern games. It's a far cry from the over-the-top action the series is now known.

It's not, it's a lot newer .
If I'd tell the genre though, everyone would immediately know what it is. You are correct about the platform though, sort of.

Morrowind?

Final Fantasy IX maybe? Although VII and VIII probably count as more cyber punk.
S.Peelman said: Thought Kresnik would guess it, even though my clue was vague, but I guess he didn't see it |
I just read backwards through the thread and holy crap, yeah, I missed that. Though to be honest I had completely forgotten about all the cameos in that intro. I just remember being terrified of it as a kid because of the "eject" at the end.
It was good to see again, though. Just another example of why I loved all the humour in their games. "Populous 3" demo on the Surgeon's console, lol.
