Hint for number 35.

If you were to believe everything you saw in movies, books, shows, and games that were based on fiction of events that happened in real life, you might believe that this game depicts what actually happened in the great london fire of 1834. It's fiction so not the reason at all.  *edited*  I wouldn't have known this existed if I didn't look it up one day.

Can't be XenoSaga Ep 3 because that's the best episode....Can't be Persona, SMT, or Star Ocean 3 for the same reasons.

Do people really regard Star Ocean 3 as the best episode?

I thought it was horrible compared to 1 & 2.  Haven't played 4 which I am led to believe is worse, but still.

Oh shoot, SO3 just isn't the worse, that's what I meant. I edited Star Ocean 3 in,

Yep, the description fits for both. In God of War 3, the chance for a sequel is killed because all of the Major Gods are dead. In Gears of War 3, a chance for a sequel is killed because the Lambant, and the Locust, are killed off by a virus which breaks down the DNA structure in these species and very effectively and quickly killed off every single Locust/Lambent, including their Queen. So unless the COG go underground and try to kill off the pockets of Locust which weren't exposed to the atmosphere, there really isn't room for a sequel.

Anyway, I'm still behind

#45 - An underappreciated fighter published by Sony. This game is super fun because you can impale people with stuff you break.

#44 - One of the most expensive games on eBay, more expensive then Earthbound. It's similar to MegaMan

#40 - A spiritual successor to one of Squaresofts best games. The developer is not Square, and this franchise still see's a new entry every few years.

#39 - This game never localized, despite strong sales from this newly localized franchise. Because of this, the next game in the series is often given credit for introducing new features (like creating a character after yourself) despite this game being the one to do so.

#38 - One of the only games where they managed to make a proper 4th installment on a trilogy that ended very conclusively. I.i. it's the 4th game in a trilogy

#37 - This game received some praise for mocking other well established franchises but critisizm for a lack of originality. Had a very challenging post game challenge mode, which took me 2 days to finish, but it was damn satisfying. IMO this game defines fast paced action games.

#36 - One of the major characters in this game, was not seen in a sequel, but might be re-introduced in the next game in the series. This game is often considered the best in the franchise by most of the hardcore fans.

#35 Was an exclusive, then it was no longer exclusive, but then a special edition made this an exclusive again. A terrible design choice in the sequel killed all hype for this franchise.

A lot of hints, good luck!

45. Battle Arena Toshinden?

44. Super Mario Bros? (the original NES cart I'm guessing)

40. Xenoblade?

38. Escape from Monkey Island?

45. Never heard of it.

44. Not that expensive, I'm talking about $500 + for the complete game. I'll give you a hint, it's a cartridge game, and made by a studio which wasn't really aknowledged until the PS1 era.

40. Good guess, but XenoBlade doesn't see regular installments now does it?

38. No.

40 - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga?

44. More expensive then that.

40. You're warm

Right sub-genre, wrong game.

Secret of Mana?  Anything in the mana series?

Brave Fencer Musashi?  Platforming as well, but still Zelda-ish and Lumina is RPG-like.

*edit*

Was wrong, butt I should have added Terranigma and Rolan's Curse 2 into the guesses.

Whoops, my mistake. I forgot that Final Fantasy Adventure wasn't turn-based.

So it's turn based?

Lufia 2?  Zelda like dungeons.

Wild ARMs?  Zelda like dungeons.

The Magic of Scheherazade.  Maybe you're asking action RPG and turn based in one?

I'd say it's a lot more like Lufia 2 than the others. However, there are some key differences which make me prefer this game over other takes on the formula.
