Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Factor five wii game is.....casual....as casual as possible.

I hate to be the bearer of potentially bad news, but the latest wii-cast from IGN plays the interview with the developer from factor 5 discussing their wii project. What does he have to say about it? Well he says they are going to push the hardware to make a really spectacular looking game, and emphasize the unique controls (the IR pointer specifically), but then asked about whether or not the new title is hardcore, he gives a vehemot, NO. Definately not hardcore, it's a casual title, and goes on to say as casual as possible, trying real hard to not use the nunchuck, talks about wii sports alot. He thinks the engine they made for the game has promise and could make a good hardcore title, but they at factor five are skeptical about the wii's ability to sell hardcore titles, and would prefer just to make a casual one.

 Screw you factor five.

If its anywhere near as fun as Wiisports then I'm all over it.

I actually love casual games and just hope that F5 is able to make a good one.

That's what people are buying, so it makes since to me to make them if you are going to put it on the Wii. Its good business.

What has the world come to, even the Wii people have started complaining about casual games!

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Well I have very little faith in Factor 5 after Lair and Rogue Squadron 3 but it may be a good thing if they can manage to create a Casual game with ground breaking graphics(for the Wii at least). It could of the ability to introduce casuals to higher end graphics and make them less scared of them if successful.

I think his concern is that factor 5 has usually been for the hardcore games however Pilots Wings was definitely as casual as they came.

More originality in casual games than the same hardcore games they redo over and over again.

It's not that I hate casual games, but come on. Huge developer, high technical prowess, and they are making something uber casual. It might not be terrible, but it's dissapointing that they are taking the easy route.

Could it be that the reason people are buying casual games on Wii over hardcore is because the outnumber them 10:1 and that 85% of the hardcore games out suck and have sub 6/10 ratings?

Where is the people that actually look at the basis for the stats and not just the stats?

Casual and hardcore are extremely vague terms, and mean something different to everyone you ask. Heck, I'd call GTA and Halo extremely casual.

Let's wait until we know a bit more about their project, and then see what we think about it.

Factor 5 again? Maybe they will make a flying mini-game??

wait a minutes....

I call Shovelware!!
