It sucks, but it's like Netflix. You pay Microsoft to allow you to pay for Netflix.

Netflix has been around for over a decade and you're providing a graph that shows just in the last 7 years cable has added million of new subscribers. But oh noes, they maybe lost 257,000 subscribers in 2013. I hope Mike Comcast and Julio Verizon can feed their kids tonight. So now I guess they only have around 100,000,000 subscribers.
Again, LOL.

Those are just 3 quick Google links that show that no, Netflix has certainly not been "killing" anything. The economy, unemployment, and ridiculous high cable prices likely have just as much to do with a small 1% drop in television membership as Netflix does. Only around 1/5th of Netflix subscribers actually cancel their cable. So what you're actually seeing is most people view the service as a nice add-on, which is probably why Netflix is actually trying to be added onto cable TV packages.
So hey, you're welcome. This is kind of off topic though so I won't respond about it again.
So the Fitness app is behind a paywall? Dang! There goes my plan of getting a free X1.

Let me get this straight.
First you pay for XBox Live. Understandable.
Next buy an XBox Fitness subscription.
Next you buy an XBox Fitness program like P90x.
Sounds like playing an MMO while also having to pay for Live on top of the MMO initial purchase & subscription cost.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Not only you get the videos which cost a penny but you also get the integration within XBL and Kinect which I am sure also cost a penny to do for all those videos. Do not get me wrong, I have my issue with how MS ties a lot of stuff behind XBL but this one no. If the wealth of videos and features equal to what I have seen so far, this will be a nice feature. Yes it would be great if it came with XBL but then again it would be better if it was free as well. People should stop looking for handouts all the time as this stuff isn't free to make and keep updated. |
I actually think it's the other way. The costs of making this app are ridiculously low. And I mean really ridiculously low. The videos are already made and they aren't changing a single thing in them. The only thing they are adding is the integration, but all the Kinect software needed to detect movement is already made, so no added costs here. The moves are also pretty basic, there isn't many of them, as there are probably 20-25 exercises max in a workout, so... Yeah. Looks extremely basic and easy to be done by any single studio. There are tons of people who could do that in their basement in a manner of days. I actually do believe a single modest subscribtion should be enough to get all the content. The only thing here is MS has to share the money with Beachbody, which made the videos and will probably lose a part of their DVD sales, but on the other hand MS is expanding the market for them. So yeah, I see no reason to justify such a model of payment and I sure won't support it.
Wii U is a GCN 2 - I called it months before the release!
My Vita to-buy list: The Walking Dead, Persona 4 Golden, Need for Speed: Most Wanted, TearAway, Ys: Memories of Celceta, Muramasa: The Demon Blade, History: Legends of War, FIFA 13, Final Fantasy HD X, X-2, Worms Revolution Extreme, The Amazing Spiderman, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate - too many no-gaemz :/
My consoles: PS2 Slim, PS3 Slim 320 GB, PSV 32 GB, Wii, DSi.
I think this needs adjustment... that's probably why it is free for gold members the first year (it is still free right ??)
like a lot of new ideas... they will need tweaking.... if it doesn't work well with the double paywall chances are it will change.... if people like it enough like that it won't change....

Wait what? You're taking only Netflix as the argument? I just meant streaming software LIKE netflix. I actually didn't literally say Netflix is killing cable, I said "ever since netflix" and ever since netflix (which proved that streaming is viable) cable has been decreasing. That is a fact. You spun what I said and argued a strawman. Good job.

No. Posting below for clarification, but nope.
Ok.
Here is how it works:
1. Gold Members who subscribe to Xbox Fitness can get the entirety of the content available for free.
2. Free Members and Gold Members who do not subscribe to Xbox Fitness can purchase content a la carte.
