This is a joke thread, right?

Nope. It was my honest opinion on a feature that I feel Nintendo should implenent into their consoel because, why not? It's not like it's a feature that somehow damages games for those who don't enjoy, but it does improve games for those who do. Trophies add a level of replayability and competitive-ness to social gaming. There's nothing wrong with them, and their just good to have. The recurring problem with here is that a lot of Nintendo users don't because they know they'll probably never get them, so they try and bash others who enjoy them. I mean, just look at this thread. I've been bashed for being a non-gamer because I have like 4100 or so trophies, and get accused of playng games just for them lol

I played Assassins Creed IV and got an achievement for petting 5 cats....

I never put much thought into achievements before, but that instant I developed a deep disdain for trophies and the people who spend a fraction of a millisecond caring about them.

100% of the time I play my games entirly  through for fun factor, spoiler free. My second playthrough mostly involve just to see what its like to speed run and just mess around, my 3rd playthrough involves trophy hunting, and again I somteimes go back in to finish off my trophy list at a later date. Your post has allot of truth to it.  Trophies sometimes open your eyes to things in the game that you may not know was possible.

Unlikely. Unlockables were included in games way before Nintendo systems were invented.

If you need a trophy/achievement to motivate you to play a game, you're playing for the wrong reasons.....

I tried writing my own response but this is just perfect.

Anyone you played at arcades? You know, try to get the high score?

It is the same. An achievement brings a smile to my face. When you compare your GS to your friends and see that you are leading, another smile.
