Should Nintendo have a Trophy/ Achievement system?

Hell Yeah! 116 27.36%

Mabye 19 4.48%

Good to have, but I really don't care 161 37.97%

Nah 123 29.01%

Total:419

Nintendo fans criticize it now, but when you have it it's addicting and very satisfying. Also what's wrong with bragging? Don't you tell your friends that you beat a game hardest difficulty or that you beat a certain boss without dying once and stuff like that?

I don't see why anyone would be so against it. You don't like it don't collect them ignore them. I personally like to look at the trophy list after finishing a game to see what I can unlock.

If you need a trophy/achievement to motivate you to play a game, you're playing for the wrong reasons.....

who are you to judge how people enjoy entertaiment?

Those people are not enjoying games, they are just using them as a way to compete and  fulfill certain aspects of their low self-steem

Are you calling people who like to compete and win people with low selfesteem? So athletes have low self esteem for wanting trophies?

Don't understand the point of my original post and took it in literal form only also.

I understand your point, it's just wrong. I play games because the process of doing so is fun. If I'm not having fun, I stop playing. No arbitrary rewards are necessary.

You think trophies are only 'artbitrary rewards'.  So you don't.

Yes, I do. I just think your point is utterly wrong.

I see a lot of Nintendo fans criticising trophies/achievements, yet they are no different to trying to collect every Pokemon in a Pokemon game. Why do it? Most of the catching/evolving is just a grind, 90% of them wil not be used, the reward for catching them all is meaningless.

Yet you do it.

No, I don't.

Don't you ever challenge yourself and say I'll kill this boss in under 5 mins. Or I'll collect every star in Mario. Or I'll get my character to the highest level etc. Trophies are only preset challenges that the developers want you to do. Yes some of them don't require any work/skill, but a lot of them do.

I'll just keep playing the game as long as it's fun. If I enjoy getting stars in Mario, I'll keep getting them until there are none left. I don't want every iota of my gaming experience micromanaged.

You are wrong because your opinion of trophies is wrong, there are thousands of people who like collecting trophies that prove you wrong, and you're using that as a basis to form your view.

So you're wrong, so you don't.

Someone else having a different opinion to mine does not in any way prove me wrong.

I never bother with achievements and trophies ever. What an arbitrary and mundane task system. Now if they were integrated within the game itself and unlocking them gave me new content, then sure i'd give a shit.

Yes lounging in your underwear screaming at people online calling them fags getting a headshot and then 15 point achievement is the same as people who physically and mentally train for decades and work with other who have worked for decades for. Well in that case let's give every lazy guy with a controller multimillion dollar contracts.

Yes it does, if your opinion goes against a fact.  If your opinion is that the Moon is made of cheese then you are wrong.  Just like your opinion of what trophies are to gamers is wrong.

Trophies being more to gamers than 'arbitrary rewards' is a fact, so any opinion you got based on them just being that is wrong.

It is not fact. Gamers have different opinions of trophies. There is no right or wrong.

First, you implying that trophy collectors are rude people online is offensive.

Second, he was implying that it's people with low self esteem that like collecting trophies. It's human nature to like achieving things. Yeah athletes work hard to get where they get, but do you only deserve trophies if you train physically? What about Chess players?

What you said is so irrelevant I don't even know how to formulate a response.
