You can play Arkhan games pressing only Y during combats. Well, the moral is "If you are not interested in high combat scores and executions, those are not games for you". |
I dunno about Bayonetta, but combat isn't the only thing about the Arkham games. I thought the combat aspect of Arkham Origins was relatively dull, but I enjoyed the game a lot for all the other elements that go to making up the total package. If Ryse is only about the swordplay then there is no comparison at all to the Arkham games.
And Ryse doesn't sound like it can be compared at all to God of War. If you try to get through GoW pressing one button with your left hand off the controller you won't get far at all. And given Bayonetta is very similar to GoW I'm going to assume that claiming Ryse is similar to Bayonetta is oversimplifying Bayonetta.
The thing I find amusing about one of the OP quotes is " In playing for almost three hours over five levels, I can tell you that I wanted to put the controller down and play something else." Lol most games I play after 3 hours I just want to put the controller down and not play anything. So I don't know how that statement can be interpretted as a criticism. Though if the person was intending to play for 4-5 hours in order to get a solid experience from the game I guess not wanting to bother completing the self appointed task isn't exactly a good thing.
Honestly I wonder why people are actually expecting a crazemazing game out of Crytek. My impression of them is that they make an amazing game engine but they are not that crash hot at making good games. So it appears, in at least some people's opinions, Crytek is playing to type. They've made a visually impressive game which is strong on style and light on substance.
