Man, the performance that AMD cards have been pumping out in relation to their continued amazing value is absolutely insane.

The noise is insane too. :P Thankfully I watercool.

My god, I haven't seen competition like this in years, we should get a mass of price drops.
Almost tempted to go Quad 290 instead of the 290X, waiting to see how AMD reacts to nVidia dropping it's prices, could save a couple hundred bucks by being patient.

It really looks like the stock cooler is holding these cards back

Yeah it is. AMD should have went with something more exotic.
AMD's stock coolers though have only ever been "good enough" and nothing more, with the 290 series, they're not even that.

That's really impressive at only $400.00

A couple more reviews:

What annoys me of this Hawaii cards is noise, power and thermals, and since it appears that the cards target an operating temp of 95ºC, the later will always be a problem, although the stock cooler certainly doesn't do anything to help.

How in the world will air go in from those tiny holes?!

Please excuse my bad English.

Oh, AMD, how you tempt me.

But I think I'll wait for Sapphire or XFX to add a decent cooler, lol.
