Forums - PC - WipEout fanmade spiritual successor 'SlipStream GX' demo out.

I'm a big fan of WipeOut too. I still play HD/Fury now and then, but never online. So when I'm looking at this, I say "why not?". I have a question though: Studio Liverpool is shut, but wasn't Psygnosis back on? Maybe we can expect a new WipeOut from them.

This, I stole from grandpa...It's called soap.

Around the Network

Psygnosis was bought my Sony back in the 90s to bolster their Western Studios. Liverpool Studio was the main Psygnosis base. Sony kinda dropped the Psygnosis name I think as a punishment when Destruction Derby 64 and the Saturn Wipeout etc were made. However it does look like they've been resurrecting the name.

I certainly hope so from a nostalgia point of view, but they could release anything with the Psygnosis brand, however it most likely wouldn't be "Psygnosis" on any of the games. But we can hope :D

Shadow of the Beast is ripe for a PS4 remake! :p The bit I'll never understand is why Roll Cage didn't get any future releases beyond the PS1 :(

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

That's my assumption, as well. Hearing the Psygnosis name again after all these years and witnessing an anouncement of the beloved Shadow of the Beast as a PS4 exclusive, make me think it's a "put 2 and 2 together" situtation. I wish it was that simple anyway, but as you say we can ever hope.

My hope with the Psygnosis trademark is that the rumours about Studio Liverpool staff being moved into Evolution Studios were true, and they have their own little sub-team within Evolution which has been branded Psygnosis. And they're the ones working on WipEout PS4.

Wishful thinking, I know.

Regarding this game: why the hell not indeed? If anything, this looks like more 'traditional' WipEout than anything we've seen since Pulse. HD Fury, although fantastic, was just a collection of tracks from Pure & Pulse. 2048 I really enjoyed; but it messed with the WipEout formula and changed the tracks so they were open spaces through real locations; rather than the (to quote the IGN reviewer) "custom built rollercoasters in the sky" of the previous games (with the exception of Sol).

So it's been 5 years since we've had this kind of content. Graphics be damned; I'm looking forward to anything new that resembles WipEout, especially with the franchises' future being so uncertain.
