Forums - Gaming - Mass Effect is Still, For Now, a 360 Exclusive

From Kotaku:

EA's purchase of BioWare was great for EA, less great for Microsoft. Why? Because it leaves their flagship RPG series, Mass Effect, in potential platform limbo. Sure, the first game will always be a 360 exclusive, but couldn't the rest of the series easily go multiplatform? Not if Microsoft can help it. Shane Kim told MTV's Stephen Totilo:

SK: ...We really care about our relationship with EA. BioWare's been a good partner for us. We're very happy with the success of "Mass Effect" and we want that to continue. From a platform perspective, is it the most important that Microsoft Games Studios publishes it or [rather] that it's exclusive to the platform? That's the way we have to think about it."

MTV: And it's still a trilogy, all three parts slated for the 360?

SK: As far as we're concerned, absolutely

Wonder if it is as far as BioWare's concerned?

Hrmm, interesting. Given EA is now behind the game, it's certainly fairly likely that 2 and 3 will be on the PS3 as well. Of course, because of the original exclusivity agreement, PS3 owners may never get to play ME1. We also have to consider the quality of EA PS3 ports to this point hasn't been stellar...

Is it just me or does EA out little effort into all of it's games now?

That's an old quote ... I will dig up the EA post about Mass Effect ... wait ... Rocket Pig posted it ...

Well a day after this it was announced for the PC.  But I guess that was to be expected.  Now that EA owns Bioware though, it seems likely the sequels will be multi-plat.

I see nothing in that GameSpot article that is also in the Kotaku article.

If they are going to release ME2 on the PS3, then I don't see why they wouldn't just port over ME to make a quick buck and show PS3 owners what they will be getting with the sequels.

I would guess the original agreement Microsoft signed with Bioware prohibits that.
