It had a better launch, that's it. Wii U's sold 1.56 million so far this year, while Vita's sold 1.8.
Also, time travel!

Considering 3DS sold around 6 million holiday 2012 (Not completely sure), Vita doesn't have a chance.

At this point in it's life (11 months), the Vita had sold 4.3 million, or 4.1 million if you wanna be super anal and align Japan for 11 months, which is still 300k ahead of the Wii U aligned. The Wii U hasn't outsold the 360 a single week yet.
Anyways, no OP, I don't see the Vita ever selling 5 million in a single year, sorry to break it to you. I think we'll be lucky if it breaks 18 million lifetime, and I don't think anyone cares about the Vita TV outside of these fringe enthusiast forums.

Actually, Wii U's at 4.1 million. Let me explain.
As of September 30th, 2013 Wii U sold 3.91 million units, but the 11 month mark was on October 18th. If you go from week ending October 5th-week ending October 19th Wii U sold about 215,000. Do the math, 3,910,000 + 215,000 = 4,125,000.

Shipped verse sold. You can't just mix and match those numbers.
It could do, with the right software and price point anything is possible.
Not if being a PS4 controller is the best it'll get.
