Let's say for some supernatural (or really weird) reason, there was one year (say 2015) where all gaming companies were banned from releasing any sequela and had to rely completely on new OP's and new games.

Which gaming company would come out on top and why?

Critically acclaimed titles like The Last of Us and Journey released late in PS3s lifecycle gives me a ton of faith in Sonys ability to create new IPs.

Then they would just wait to release them all in 2016 :P, its not like they would start making a new IP cause the game takes 3+ years to make and the ban is only 1 year.

Im gonna say sony but that might be biased, i just think they are better at new IPs. Nintendo makes great games, but they are mostly remakes, or the next in the series.

I could also say for certain that COD would get alot of map packs.. lol does that count?

edit:  what are the stipulations on this year.  is it planned out a couple years ahead of time that no one can release during that year.  is it out of no where and companies just cant release sequels?   

It depends on the year, should make it 2014 or something. Some games come out on various release cycles. 1 year, 2, 3?

yup people always will lol   but if it was out of no where i think sony might have the edge with all the indie support.   MS could match eventually, but it would take a bit to get the ball rolling.   If it was planned out ahead of time, all sides would do what it took to produce new IP's.   it might actually shuffle players to different sides if their console of choice goes a different direction

It's a complete toss up tbh, they all have an ample amount of quality studios to make amazing new IP.

Just a shame it won't happen!
