Not necessarily (although I agree with you).

His work is related to Platform Tools, software I assume, used on consoles. That software could very well be a new OS that could be used not only on Nintendo's next console but also beyond that point to the console beyond that and even more, or on a emulator engine to run games developed for PowerPC consoles (GC, Wii, WiiU) on machines with an x86 CPU.
