Okay, so I think this is pretty interesting. The song that played during the SMTxFE trailer (Reincarnation by Kiria) has been translated, and it pretty much confirms what I was suspecting. The game is basically an illusion. The song sounds very happy, but the lyrics are fairly dark. Here they are if you're curious:
