Do you honestly think that though? XBC got a 92 with all it's graphical flaws.

It's in HD now though, and people seem more harsh with reviews these days, too.

^

Also, XC was a very good surprise (maybe the best game I've ever played) that set the bar way too high*. I bought my Wii U primarly for this game (XCX) and I think that it'll be awesome but I really don't understand how critics are reviewing these days. I think they will look really hard for something in order to bash XCX so it can't get a 90+ meta and character faces are a given.

* Although I have a pretty big backlog, I'm re-playing XC as I wait for XCX and I don't have enough words to praise this game.

Xeno X and Mario Maker shouldn't really be considered as new IPs.

Yeah, that's why I put ?'s next to them. Not really sure what qualifies as a new IP anymore, tbh.

Oh i think thats inevitable for a game like that to release later this year, especially a bundle with a Mario amiibo and, if Nintendo decides to think normally, even go as far as releasing a Wii U bundle with an amiibo, Amiibo Land and probably some other big game release.

Yep! Also forgot to include SMTxFE and Mario Sports games in there. There's also the inevitable new IPs that we'll see, considering they've come to the Wii U every year:

2012 - ZombiU, Sing Party, Nintendo Land

2013 - Wonderful 101, Lego City, The Cave, NES Remix, Injustice

2014 - SteamWorld Dig, Shovel Knight, Child of Light

2015 - Devil's Third, Splatoon, Rodea, Project CARS, Project Guard/Robot, Mighty No. 9, Mario Maker (?), Xeno X (?)

I hope to be wrong - because I really want this game on Nintendo console - but I'm losing my hope of seeing Project CARS on Wii U.

Just look at the name lol. Intellectual Property. Xenoblade was a new IP because Namco owned the Xenosaga IP, therefore they had to create a new property for Xenoblade.

I hope Nintendo got something like that in development right now. That woud be something they need to get out by the end of 2016. Iwata wants to show the real power of them, here's your chance.

I mentioned this somewhere before, but Amiibo Land would work really well. As a direct or indirect sequel to Nintendo Land, they could mash up their IPs again while having amiibo functionality with their game.

Gotcha. What confuses me, however, is what about games with established characters but different gameplay? Like, do the Mario Party and Mario Kart games fall under the same IP, or are they different? Does Theatrhythm Final Fantasy fall under the FF IP?

Technically, the property is owned by nintendo before the game comes along. Like say Sony wanted to make a Mario Sports game that doesn't exist. They couldn't, because Nintendo owns the Mario IP.

Crossovers are a little different. One company owns one IP, and another company owns the other. The company that publishes the game owns the IP, but they don't own the characters that fall under the other IP.

Okay, that all makes sense. Thanks!

Is Treasure Tracker a new IP?
