With Nintendo basically saying there's no chance we'll cut the Wii U price, they're going to have to now put a huge emphases on special editions and bundle newly released games. I really hope they do it for Splatoon. That could be a bad ass looking console and a good way to try and get people to try out your new IP.

They really need to do special editions. That alone could move a significant amount of hardware with not just new users, but old ones as well. Just look at the 3DS. A lot of people own at least two versions of that (some people own even more). We haven't even gotten a redesign of the Wii U or any special editions (outside the Wind Waker one, which just changed the gamepad) so there's a lot of untapped potential here.
Of course, bundling new games should just be obvious at this point, but we'll have to see what they do.
