Agreed. Great move. And I think Nintendo already has gone a long way toward becoming the place to play Skylanders. I remember reading an article on Forbes not too long ago that spoke about how Wii is still crucial to the success of Skylanders, despite its age. The numbers were pulled from VGChartz, so take that report with a grain of salt.
I agree this bundle will attract families and kids- my question is; can you load any disc based game w the amount of storage in the Wii u- how will typical family feel about adding external storage (how would the typical family not need it?

This is pretty normal. It is called marketing. X360 and Xbone are bundling third-party FIFA 14. I see little desperation here. This happens all the time. There are PS4 bundles and PS3 bundles.
Actually there are "bundles" in every aspect of sales. I got a years free insurance and tax on my car "bundle". I don't think the company that makes my car are desperate. Supermarket do "bundles", my iPhone was "bundled".
When the wii was selling a gazillion a week all those years ago I got mine in a bundle - some silly third-party party game I can't even remember. What desperation?
