300 MB? So...it should take me about 12 seconds to download then. Still odd that it even exists though...

The PS3 was amazing when I first got it, I think the PS4 is going to top that experience. :)

  • You can now use PlayStation^®Network services.
  • You can now use the single tap text entry method on the on-screen keyboard for English and other European languages.
  • [Audio CD Output Frequency] has been added as a feature under [Music Settings].
  • [Enable ATRAC] has been added as a feature under [System Settings].
  • [Cross Color Reduction Filter] has been added as a feature under [Display Settings].
  • [After 5 Minutes] has been added as an option to [Screensaver] under [Display Settings].
  • You can now select [Full Screen] under [Screen Mode] when playing video files saved on the hard disk or storage media.*. 
    *An appropriate USB adaptor (not included) is required to use storage media with some models.
  • You can now download and save music and video files on the hard disk under [Internet Browser].
  • You can now download the following types of content under [PlayStation^®Store].
  • PlayStation^®3 format software

• The method of calculating hard disk capacity has been changed.
  * Free space on the hard disk is calculated as 1 GB (1024 x 1024 x 1024) = approx. 1,073,740,000 bytes. As a result, the free space value displayed may be less than the value that is mentioned under specifications in the product documentation. You can check hard disk free space under [Settings] > [System Settings] > [System Information].

Got to be kidding me.   Just...why?  Why?  I don't even begin to understand how reading discs needs me to drag it somewhere to download an update.  This is just backward and confusing.

So a PS4 is pretty much useless without this patch? What about all those gamers with no internet who pre-ordered one back when Xbox One was still "always online"? Guess they are screwed no matter what.

Also, no suspend/resume mode means no auto updates during the night. Can't even use the blu-ray player? That's a good joke...

Well, I call it. The PS4 has a similar day one Update as teh Xbox One. To bad for that comparison chart some people were brading a few weeks ago.

I fell sory for the guys that live deep in the woods and bashed MS for their online policy.

That is a joke because Sony was smart in keeping quiety and let the Gaffers doing their work with memes.

The next gen is on line, there is no going back as much as Sony PR ability to manipulate the ultra-hardcore crowd.

I don't think people with no Internet buy consoles at launch :S, but don't worry the patch will most likely be included in the second batch of shipment or included in games :D

Really? You do realize that the day one patch for the Xbox One is needed just to play games right? Not to mention that the PS4 patch is 300 mb which even for someone with slow internet should take only a couple of minutes to download where MS said that the update for the one should take "15-20 minutes for most people"
