So, @ethomaz, for a 1080p to 720p we have to assume that Microsoft made everthing wrong and Sony made everything right, don´t we?

Or that in the long run the "gap" will be minimal?

right?

Even at long run the "gap" will be big... there are big difference between powers this time.

Actually the difference is smaller this time.

Quit spreading your unproven fud. Every dev that is not a PS4 exclusive dev has come out to say they are very similar with practically the same performance and they are both easy to develop for compared to last gen.

It is hilarious that some of you people argue with us over the power difference being small.  It is so dang agravating when you understand PC hardware to see people who don't continue to deny what is clearly a huge power difference.

It would be like if a 4 year old said 8 is not twice as big as 4.  It is  twice as big, but the 4 year old just can't understand that.  Yet it is so obvious to us...

whos "us"?

self proclaimed computer graphical gurus? You're really just tuting your own horn hoping for a pat on the back here.

You may generally know more about commputer shelf products than an average joe, but ust how much do you know really?

I would sooner belive the large mount of major game developers who have claimed both systems are close in power than self proclaimed forum know it alls.

Post a game you developed and maybe my impression will improve.

1) Well I am an Engineer and I know that Ethomaz in fact works for Intel if I remember correctly so...

2) LOL developers have said that the PS4 is substantially stronger!  I guess it isn't that some people can't read the writing on the wall, it's just that they don't want to...

You underestimate the impact of such news.

Like i said, its not about COD, its about the demonstration of the difference between PS4 and xbox one

With internet, information travels fast and easily become public( the rumor is already everywhere in the world on all the forums, its not just gaf who cares about the resolution, eveyrone care about power, everyone care about buying the best hardware , especially for a better price).
everyone = early adopters, those who look for the best ( this is why they buy a new next gen hardware, to get the new most powerful system and get the best console version of ac/cod/bf/... , if they dont care about this, then they buy a wii u with more exclusive games or just keep the current gen waiting for more exclusive games to buy a  next gen )

Do you know why Sony wins against Sega ? One of the main reason is that everyone believed PS2 was more powerful (even if it was wrong, so, now, since its true for the PS4, its a real matter )

Early adopters are almost all hardcore gamers who could not care less about a thing you just typed. And a majority of the rest also don't care about a thing you just typed. They want to play games and will buy a console based on what games it has. Or maybe price. Or maybe what their friends have. Power is irrelevant. When is the last time the most powerful console won a generation? The SNES? The NES? How is that Vita doing?

People buy new hardware to get new hardware. These aren't PC gamers spending money to get every little drop of performance they can, these are console gamers who buy the hardware for the games. There is a crowd of people who want "the best" but they are a tiny minority. If the Xbox One doesn't sell well, it will be because they launched overpriced at $500 compared to a $300 and $400 machine. It won't be because CoD, a franchise that has never been about amazing graphics, might "only" be 720p while the PS4 version might be 1080p.

And you're right, the Internet is an amazing technology used throughout the world to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another. And it's also great for sharing news. This rumor has certainly spread like wildfire. Of course, people looking at news like this on the Internet can also see amazing Ryse footage, which looks as good as anything on PS4 even at "only" 900p, and they can see Forza 5. And even Dead Rising 3, even though IIRC it's "only" 720p.

Or hey maybe you guys are right and MS's entire gen will hang on a launch port of a cross-gen multiplatform title which is still outranking the PS4 version in preorders and still has timed exclusive DLC LOL. Toodles. This thread has run its course for me. Oh and by the way, the PS2 WAS more powerful than the DC. And the reason the PS2 beat the DC was simply support. SEGA had no EA, and that killed them. Their biggest launch game was an arcade perfect port of a fighting game. They had virtually no "megaton" 3rd party system selling exclusives. Almost everything was arcade ports and new IP's. Compare that to PS2 which had big name 3rd party franchises like Madden, Street Fighter, Tekken, Ridge Racer, NHL. Plus support from companies like Rockstar and Free Radical Design with TimeSplitters. And the other main reason SEGA lost was money. They had none, everyone else had tons. LOL @ it being about power.

Wow... this guy is in serious damage control.

If it cames out as 1080p he could say : "I was right. The last build was 720p, they cleary made sacrifices and optmisation was severe".

Does it sound familiar? I think I read exatly the same thing a few weeks back with Battlefield 4 version.

Isn´t that funny? People are talking as a accomplished fact a rumur that has very little basis.

Have any one here realy seen a side-by-side comparison? Have any game said to be dramatically downgraded in one of the consoles?

Please, show me!

Seens like other guy in serious damager control here lol.

And yeah... all Xbone games have donwgraded from E3 shows.

More fud and misinformation. All Xbox One games downgraded = false.

The PS4 has KZ:SF to show off as a launch first person shooter, it does not need COD:Ghost. While the Xbox One is relying on two 3rd party first person shooters to show off there system. This makes it an extra epic fail if COD:Ghost is inferior on the Xbox One. I have not heard any news on BF4, but COD:Ghost was always the important FPS for the Xbox One. Even if it turns out to be 900P it would be a fail because KZ:SF looks so much better than Ghost.

To add to this, it is ironic that the xbox brand was always considered the brand for online shooters. And now the playstation brand launches with a 1st party FPS and the better looking COD and possibly BF.

Yeap... just Ryse, Forza 5 and Killer Instinct I guess... no multiplataform game was showed in Xbone until Eurogamer Expo. and to be fair only FIFA and Battlefield was showed until now.

Truth sometimes hurts .

Please don't get him started on these supposed "downgrades". Just allow him to live inside of his Playstation bubble.

1. I have a computer science masters working as a software engineer and have been working in the computer hardware space for over a decade before my degree. I believe I am highly qualified, more so than most, including ethomaz.

2. The devs you speak of are all developers of Sony exclusive games. Of course they will talk it up. All major multiplat developers are saying they are very similar. I'm not saying they are equal. The PS4 absolutely has the edge. But in real world terms the differences will be a few FPS higher on PS4/lower on Xbox One meaning only minor tweaks or changes would be necessary for 1080p/60fps on both systems.

The only reason for poor performance on Xbox One would be devs way late on getting kits, or trouble with drivers, or poor dev skills to begin with. At launch it is highly likely that dev tools and drivers are very unrefined. I also admit it sounds like Sony got theirs right pretty early on, but again it is not a hardware issue and the rumors of bad drivers for Xbox One are simply that. Rumors. I'll wait till confirmation on the CoD res for Xbox One.

Hmm. Considering the number of times I've watched "hardcore" gamers around here tout a game running at 1080p/60fps, to then hear defensiveness over games running at less fidelity as "no one cares" or "it doesn't matter because "..... it's a little comical to me. When it runs at max fidelity it seems to matter. When it's not it seems to not matter at all. The double standards around here are priceless. People really will say anything to justify their bias.

Reading that comment from Penello about being told that he doesn't need to know... this is the PR guy. You know, the one who interacts with your fans more than anyone else. He is your representative to the consumers. Telling him that he doesn't need to know is virtually no different than telling the consumers they don't need to know. That's a pretty dick thing to say when your competition came right out and told its fans what they wanted to know.

I you have any degree in software engineer you know PS4 is strong and no magic can change that... there is a big difference in power between the two machines.

How was Forza 5 downgraded? I thought it was still 1080p at 60 fps?
