Forums - Sales - September 2013 NPD Thread! - PS3 > 360 (GTAV = system seller), Wii U: ~91k

Wow. 3DS might be over 200k.

Not sure why people think IGN's numbers are more reliable than Nintendo's. Probably just a typo on IGN's part.

And now IGN says that Wii U increased by 100% (so 62k), and it's probably correct because the world is evil.

200% can mean both 2x or 3x depends of the context.

That's the issue here... we need some confirmation.

I trust Nintendo press release over ign:p

Becasue 200% can mean 2x too that fits 100% increase from IGN... but I think ~91k is the right number.

Very interesting NPD indeed! Can't wait to hear both MS and Sony's PR releases about NPD this month.

Looks like MS announced 80 million consoles shipped (according to Seece's thread at least), any word on Sony yet?

It's a couple of pages back.

Ah, found it. Thanks!

It does look like the 360 is pretty overtracked in the US. MS said 1.6 million consoles sold so far for 2013 but Vgchartz shows this.

X360 1,955,046 (-69%) 41,197,483

So if it's quite heavily overtracked in the US but has shipped 80 million, where are those sales? Vgchartz must be undertracking it in the smaller markets.

Nintendo's press release says sales increased by more than 200%. A 100% increase is 2x. A 200% increase is 3x.

This is backed up by that GAF post that says 48k for Wii U is "waaaay low." Sounds like he's off by more than 14k.

Also I think him saying "Almost but not quite" about the PS3 being on top means that PS3 and 3DS were very close. If 185k was low for PS3, then maybe it was around 195k, and 3DS 200k.

Looks like yet another GTA that is a failure. GTA IV didn't kill the Wii and now GTA V didn't kill the Wii U.

Yeah I'm sure Rockstar's intention wasn't making 1B in 3 days (which is 5 times faster than any video game in history) but to somehow make the Wii U (A failed console) even more of a failure than what it is.

Obviously not. Next gen GTA will kill the Wii-U. Apples to apples.

I've been working on my humour. Comparing Wii-U to next gen...

OP: As usual, great work on these threads, Boutros

Last time MS shared a number was rounded to up kike 66m = 65.x million.

Well they did say "reached 80 million" so it's possible. But is there proof to that? Plus I know MS has mentioned other sales milestones between 66 & 80 million.
