Will PS4 be getting a skype app?

I think I remember ms saying that they would like to have skype everywhere so it could be up to sony to ask for one

Vita has skype so I don't see why not however does it really matter? If skype is a killer app for anyone buying a gaming console... they need to get their priorities straight...

As Azerth said MSFT wants Sony to have skype.

If that happens though i want MSFT to let them have the conference type skype as well so you can get multiple people in one room. That would be awesome if I could chat with my friends through skype regardless of what device we are playing on 

Itd be safe to assume Xbox has a certain time period of exclusivity with Skype for home consoles, and a little later Microsoft will then allow PS4 to have it.
Sony pictures, Crackle which are sony owned are on x360 and Vevo which is partly owned by sony is on x360

Microsoft has stated that they would like to bring Skype to the PS4.

I also wish they would bring it to the Xbox 360. It would be a nice feature to stick in there.

The question is who would program it? Would Sony give the documentation to Microsoft to make it or would Sony try to make it - so Microsoft would have to give details. I assume each wants to keep part of their console hidden from each other. Microsoft doesn't make a handheld so no real competition to the Vita.

Plus it might help sell the PS4 Camera. It's a nice feature to have - especially with family and holidays.

(Like my Dad and I always watch the Kentucky Derby together. Would be nicer to have it on Skype than the phone.)

Skype seems to be the 'video phone' we were promised in the movie 2001. It even works fairly well off my phone even on cellular bandwidth.

PS and why not also on the WiiU?

I think ps4 will see it at some point. There's really no reason not to.

not at launch obviously but i think it will eventually.

MS has more to gain than lose by putting skype on ps4.

would be kool, I personally wouldn't use it as I have never even downloaded it on my Vita and I only talk to like 2 of my friends on Skype but im sure it'll please alot of people if it was available.
