Forums - Gaming - Sony does what Nintendon't!!

There were rumors back then that Sony already did something similar with the struggling Dreamcast, I find it funny that people believe they wouldn't do with the Wii U, there is no better time to kill a competitor brand than when it's product is struggling in the market.

With how poorly Vita is doing, Sony needs to do anything to boost sales.
Also good luck with that Sony. You do not have the games that can compete with Mario

So let me get this straight. The PS4 is destined to do at least rather well this holiday season already, and the Wii U has a substantial market and following presence already, in part because it just got a price cut, but mostly because it's a Nintendo product and Nintendo fans KNOW what is and isn't a Nintendo product.

I don't buy this for a second. Confusing the market is something you do when your product is floundering horribly and the competition's products are almost identical. When your hardware is already going to do well, confusing consumers can only backfire.

Cause they are still butthurt about how Nintendo went for Philips instead of Sony for the Snes disc system

Man, people will believe anything just to attack Sony. Seriously, this is just sad. So many awesome things to do with their lives and they waste their time on something they hate. Oh well.

Back in the day when I asked a "Media Markt" employee about the newly available Dreamcast he told me to just ignore it and bluntly told me to wait for the PS2. At some point there were also some other marketing people that actively tried to persue people to buy the PS2. So it wouldn´t surprise me this new rumor to be true.
I had a friend that was the store manager of an Electronics Boutique in the 90's.  He told me that Sony (or their marketing firm) hired secret shoppers to go into video game stores and ask about a competing system.  If the sales associate would try to steer the customer towards Sony's system instead, they could win prizes...even trips.  The whole secret shopper thing was well know (again, I'm sure by Sony) so whenever people would go into the store to ask about a competing console, the sales associate would try to steer the customer towards Sony, because you just never know who that customer might be.  Pretty slimy when you think about it.
I have had every system that Sony has released....along with everyone any of the others have released.  At this point in time, I have zero plans on picking up a PS4 and won't be getting a Xbox One anytime soon either.

I've caught HP doing something similar with printers.  Only it was paid people to steer them away from other printers, and to theirs.

But it just seems unsportsmanlike like to me.  And I think sours the whole reputation.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Top 50 'most fun' game list coming soon!

Tell me a funny joke!

The best part of the news: "it's a rumor until sony confirms" lol.

Yet, if this what will take to nintendo realize that the effort they put on marketing its not even near to be enough, i'm ok with that. About sony, well, its a megacorporation doing what all megacorporations do.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Sony can't advertise in a good mood their own products, let alone missinform about others. Anyway, Nintendo is caring in that topic, and they are the best when confusing people is the objective.

Proud to be the first cool Nintendo fan ever

Number ONE Zelda fan in the Universe

DKCTF didn't move consoles

Prediction: No Zelda HD for Wii U, quietly moved to the succesor

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

I'd be pretty upset if i were Nintendo. After Nintendo spent all that time confusing consumers with the Wii U, Sony are coming in to try and take all the credit for the confusion.

So 540€ vs. 300€? Yeah sure, this will work.
