I admit, this site's numbers are close, however it seems that total sales of xbox360 are closer to 17.7 million based on other sources and the ps3 is closer to 10.49 million (check the wiki sources). Like I said pretty close but not quite there.

You're going to need a better case than "I saw soem sources on another site" to claim that Vgchartz "isn't close enough," especially when you aren't giving a measure in the first place.

Those are based on the reported figures from Sony and Microsoft and are thus based on what those companies have shipped rather than those that have been sold to consumers.
