Forums - Gaming Discussion - 50% Mo Powahz - Where?

a lot of people  glossed over this like it never existed.

df did a test measuring compute frame rate performance

"Microsoft says that game performance doesn't scale with the number of compute units you have. We put that theory to the test by comparing a 2GB Radeon 7850 with a 2GB Radeon 7870 XT, both downclocked to 600MHz (to more accurately reflect compute power of the two systems in the initial specs) and with identical memory bandwidth. Across ten tests we found that 50 per cent more compute power actually yielded an average of 24 per cent improvement in game frame-rates."

50% compute =/=  50% more performance during real world testing but 24%

and thats with the same clockrate

in away this redeems albert penello from the neogaf bullsh!tters.

math on paper don't lie but scissors do beat paper.

that's why you don't see  that 50% mo powahz in the 1st party titles.  and cut the bull that this is the first round  because its the first round for both.  does the playstation have more juice?  of course but until we get real benchmarks comparing both system every else is fanboy drool.

25% is still a lot.

That article was debunked a while ago :/ Anyway.. a closer comparison would be an AMD HD7770 and a slightly overclocked HD7850.

True...50% more compute does not mean 50% more performance. 50% more compute AND 50% more TMUs AND 100% more ROPs on the other hand...

That "objective" article by Leadbetter in which he compared PS4 and XOne "equivalents" where he conveniently forgot to take into account few of key differences between PS4 and XOne is, IIRC, what got him banned on GAF...

Anyway, nice try at flamebaiting...

That article is bullshit. Why would a comparison between a HD7850 vs 7870 matter to PS4 vs Xbone?

PS4: 1.84TF GPU ( 18 CUs)
PS4: 1152 Shaders
PS4: 72 Texture units
PS4: 32 ROPS
PS4: 8 ACE/64 queues
8gb GDDR5 @ 176gb/s

VS:

Xbone: 1.31 TF GPU (12 CUs)
Xbone: 768 Shaders
Xbone: 48 Texture units
Xbone: 16 ROPS
Xbone: 2 ACE/ 16 queues
8gb DDR3 @ 69gb/s+ 32MB ESRAM @109gb/s

You're right the gap may not be 50%, more like 75-100% more powa for PS4.

People just calm down, is just a little more than a month we are going to have our next gen consoles on our sweaty hands :P.

and this is a message for only console gamers that don't have the opportunity of a high end gaming rigs:

"For you people xbox one owners and PS4 owners(including me) you are in for a spectacular experience in gaming, right now all of you only console gamers have experience all of your favorite franchises in a very low resolutions, once you get your hands on this next consoles and start experiencing in full HD you will be blown away, I can guarantee you that, but there's a small warning to all of you, once you experience all this games in HD you won't be able to go back to lower resolution your eyes will get use to a clean image and so once you see a lower resolution you will notice it right away and probably you won't be very comfortable with those visuals, PC gamers(including me) are use to full HD gaming and very clean visuals and this has been years for us, but not for console only gamers, so I finally can say to you welcome to full HD console gamer peasants"

Woow u do know lots about technology

That is an old article that was proven false, like every article like this recently.

funny that the so called weaker consoles games look insanely good and honestly even best

ok so with 75-100% more powaz i never knew sony had crappy developers that cant make a game that look 25% more powaful that would leave 50-75% more to play with
