Microsoft is giving everyone with a Xbox LIVE Free account the opportunity to experience the benefits of being a Gold member this coming weekend with a well-timed ‘Xbox Gold Unlocked’ event.

The free weekend runs from 12:01pm GMT on Friday, October 4th until 11:59pm on Sunday, October 6th. During this period all Xbox LIVE users will have access to Gold benefits such as online multiplayer, early access to demos, Deal of the Week, and perhaps even Games with Gold.

This free weekend has come along at just the right time thanks to the recent launch of mega-popular games with extensive multiplayer components such as FIFA 14 and Grand Theft Auto V.
