Where those buttons at?

Ex Graphics Whore.
Certainly looks interesting, will buy it if the price is right. It would be a winner if they made the part with the trackpads and screen modular/removable. So one module would be current one, while the other would be more classic approach, with the buttons/thumbsticks/d-pad.
Anyway, kudos to valve, apart from nintendo seems that they are the only ones trying to innovate on the input front.

.
So it's pretty much just a way to have a mouse on a controller.
I'm sure there will be PS360 ripoff controllers for console like games.

What happened to that patent with the swapable sticks/trackball?
Maybe this will turn out to be good in practice but I can't say I'm supper optimistic at this point lol. I guess it really depends just how good that haptic feedback actually is. Because the lack of buttons could be an issue for many games.

I get the touch pad on the right side of the screen, but they should have went with a traditional analog on the left. Typically, you're aiming with the right, so that depends a great deal of precision. The left stick rarely requires that fine touch.
Playing an action game like Bayonetta, DMC, God of War, or DMC would be out of the question The buttons are just too difficult to hit. Platformers which benefit from digital input would be awkward. Fighting games would be nigh unplayable. The gamepad is just designed for too narrow a range of games. Maybe it'll be nice for PC gaming, but I doubt Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo find this too threatening.
