My guess would be 45%-50% lifetime sales in the first week.

imho absolutely undeserved and comes to show how fucked up our society is
plus the game runs like shit. often hitting sub 20fps and aliased as a PS2 game
the only thing good i can say is that it has a nice script...but if i wanted that i would go to the movies...oh wait thats even more fucked up....

No, it doesn't. Now I'm wondering if you know what you're talking about or just have bad taste. Your complaints remind me of someone who is looking for ammo agianst something so they watch youtube videos or google something like 'gtav sucks' and then toss in a complement to look like they know what they're talking about.

Not this year, but perhaps in the long run (which is actually the prediction).

Besides, GTA doesn't do that yearly, making CoD more impressive.

Uhm no. GTA V will probably outsell this years COD and next years COD combined.

Errr...you expect it to sell 40-50 million? Yeah, good luck with that one. It would have to, at least, double the franchise's known 25-26 million, which won't happen no matter how impressive these numbers are.

I think it can reach 40m. Not 50m though.

40m is a certainty if they announce PC and/or next-gen versions, and 50m a possibility

Now more versions (next gen, specifically), yes, I could see it doing 40-45 million. No doubt.

You guys are crazy. I can't see it going past 28-32 million.

some people are living in a dream world or ignoring the numbers. Blops2 already sold LESS than MW3 did why some people think that Ghosts all of a sudden will sell better than Blops2 did is beyond me. SO they added two more consoles. So what those are two consoles that arent even out and i imagine those numbers will account for the missing PS360 ones, havent even seen the WIi U version on the charts might as well not even exist.

WaW came out a year after MW1 and sold less than MW1 yet the next CoD smashed the previous record holder. It doesn't mean much when a game doesn't sell as much as last years iteration. It could be a sign of things to come but as far as CoD goes its by far the most reliable profit machine in the industry.

CoD is the biggest franchise of the last decade. No game series has ever made so much money so fast, and I doubt any franchise ever will. In the last five years CoD has had billion dollar revenue streams yearly from each title within months or even weeks of release. GTA 5 broke the record for the fastest title to reach a billion dollars revenue but the end result will still be very close.

CoD is so huge that each title held its general MSRP of $60 for MUCH longer than GTA 4 even though CoD had yearly titles coming out. The CoD franchise is very attractive to consumers and even more so for share holders because it is a guaranteed billion dollar revenue stream with every release of CoD...which is every year!

GTA 5 is very impressive but its revenue stream doesn't touch half of what CoD has done in the last 5 years or what CoD will do in the next 5 years. And that not even taking into consideration how much GTA 5 even cost!

WaW sales was simply the market telling Activision that they dont want to play anymore World War 2 era shooters anymore, they wanted more of that MW stuff. Dont know why people keep telling me about revunue and GTA and all that. Has nothing to do with Ghosts sales, ive yet to see a reason why people think Ghosts will do BETTER than Blops2

This was more of a response to the rest of the thread saying that GTA 5 was bigger than CoD, hence the revenue talk. As for Ghosts, it's made by Infinity Ward, not Treyarch. IW has a bigger fanbase than Treyarch does by quite a bit. Ghosts most likely won't beat GTA 5's opening record but it should end very close in sales. Don't know why everyone keeps saying CoD's on a decline just because one game doesn't break records like it has in the past or outsell its prequel. Sometimes sequels don't sell as well as usual but that doesn't mean that the franchise is "automatically" on a decline.

IMO once the marketing machine kicks into high gear, Ghosts will start impressing in the preorder charts.

by that logic Blops should have never outsold MW2 but it did. Preorders are already tracking less than BLOP2 did last year at the same time. I dont see ads making it better since its not like its going to get more ads than usual. Its on a decline because the numbers say they are, but we'll find out soon enough.

I'm pretty certain activision said they expect a decline for Ghosts too.

exactly they could be wrong but if even Activision themselves are saying it who is anyone else to argue.

BO outsold MW2 because of MW2, lol. BO was riding the wave, just like every Treyarch CoD has done. Plus everyone wanted the new Zombies mode. Ever since MW2, CoD has been breaking records every release. BO2 wasn't very impressive and had a couple of issues, Zombies was hyped pretty well but didn't live up, and Treyarch all of a sudden overhauls the perk system online and it was just a mess overall. IW is just better at creating that addicting formula and I believe its going to sell more than BO2 for sure. It might not look like it right now according to numbers but they will pick up imho.

Actually its the opposite, they are expecting the biggest sales yet according to the head guy at IW. He said that during Gamescom or the Xbox One reveal, can't remember. And this is the company that expected MW3 to sell less than BO.

Wow, I honestly didn't see those numbers coming. Rockstar should now release on PC..

..and WiiU.
