That seems like a very lowball number, even the Gamecube titles were able to sell close to that and they were spinoffs that used unpopular bongo peripherals. A mainline traditional Donkey Kong on Gamecube would have probably sold 3-4m. Donkey Kong also seems to be a series that doesnt rely too heavily on install base, DKC, DKC2, DK64, DKC Returns all sold over 5 million and thats on consoles with install bases of 33-100m. DKC3 is the only one to sell less than 5m.

Just out of curiousity what makes u think Donkey Kong is declining? Wii U lifetime sales would have to be like 10m in order for Tropical Freeze to sel that low.

Donkey Kong Returns only did 3 Million on a giant Wii userbase with a lot of momentum.  They just went to long without "good" Donkey Kong games... for reasons I can't completely fathom.

The Wii U userbase is in the exact opposite situation.

It is a lowball number, but that's what happens when you think things lean towards a worst case scenario.

I think u have ur numbers mixed up, Returns did 6 million and is the 2nd best selling Donkey Kong game.

I took a trip out in the boonies to this random Best Biuy they had the event at, people were piling up for Donkey Kong ;0

The sales of the 3DS version just cement it further too

Hard to say due to WiiU's current display. If I have to give a figure, I'd say 3m.

I'll make the boldest prediction and say that Tropical Freeze will outsell Wii U.

2 - 3 million.. I've become a far more cynical Nintendo fan of late. Plus the first one sold 5 on a much bigger userbase.

Install base doesnt really matter a whole lot with DK, the N64/SNES installments sold over 5 million with 1/3-1/2 the install base
