Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One: "Our long term vision hasn't changed at all"

If he says the long term vision hasn't changed :/ it will scare the people even more.

This meens the changes they did are only short term vision.

Do they realy know what they are talking about?

of course they are and it's a good ting... while their initial vision is way too early to implement, the idea s spot towards what every single tech device is going to... an all digital cloud based and networked world is the future sooer or later.... and there is nothing wrong about it.... the question is when t is the right time to go forward with it.... obviousl it wasn't for many just yet.... but it will come.... home base computing is just getting closer to it's limits

So the DRM may come back?

they never left on any console... they just went from online based to disc based for XB1, but you do have pretty much exactly the same DRM system on every single system, just the implementatin changes.....

Wait... I read that right? No indie game at launch? Just next year?

Not a good news so maybe that's the reason for Minecraft be a launch title on PS4 and a post-launch on Xbone.

MS policies about indie games earlier this year and for the Xbone hurt them. Reputation can mean a lot. They changes only happened recently in game time and like he said, it's unlikely anyone will have anything ready. Of course, it would have been worse if they didn't change anything. 6 months in and still no cool indie games might not be a good thing however.

You know what he meant, he meant the policies. We all know DRM for games has already existed on disc. You buy the licence on the disc, when you sell the disc you sell the licence, etc. However reading this, it does seem like they want to be able to move to a more digital platform, which will have to include digital checks to make sure the copy of your game hasn't been copied 15 times around all your mates, they'll do it so the disc is not needed to play the game and all that.

Also: "There was no discussion about DRM, there was no discussion about digital this or digital that."

Of course there wasn't, MS removed these policies and for good reason. Removing those policies made the Xbone a viable option for many people again.

If they want to introduce more digital platform in the future they need to work it out better, make online games more appealing to buy, introduce oppposition shops online so the XBLive Store is more competitive for instance. Infact just cheaper games when downloading would be the main step, once people are used to downloading games, then weird restrictive disc based DRM might not seem much of an issue.

Hmm, pie.

Digital download is the future, and I'd prefer a more flexible setup than we have now.
