I honestly thought, both from Apple's PR and from what biometrics experts have been saying, that it would be harder than this... but yeah, that's pretty much how it is:

It requires a little bit of expertise and specialized equipment, but really doesn't seem very hard to spoof, and there's no indication that it's taking any kind of a 3D or sub-dermal scan.
I still consider this more secure and convenient than a 4-digit PIN, but I'd be reluctant to tie my payment details to a biometric scanner this weak.
