So if a person votes, on average, 80% of the time for the libral (or precieved) liberal position, he is still moderate?

He might have a moderate position on Healthcare, but what about Abortion? He's 100% Pro Choice. What about Gun Control? He's Anti-NRA.

http://nj.nationaljournal.com/voteratings/

Highest rated Liberal Senator in Congress in 2007. Exactly why is he moderate when he recieved a 95.5% Liberal rating? Speeches and plans are fine, but why should I randomly believe that he's going to be moderate when his actual voting record is different?

Actually look at his record in the illinois state senate and you see he is more moderate than you think.  He's also not Anti-NRA, however he does believe that there needs to be regulations on gun ownership, heck its not like you just walk into a car dealership and get a car and start driving, no you need to have a liscense and that involves trining and testing

I just have one thing to say to Dems who want immediate withdraw: they say that Iraq wasn't needed b/c the terror was in Afghanistan. Granted the Taliban was in control of Kabul and al-Qaeda using that nation as a base. However, when Saddam gassed his own Kurdish minority with sarin and anthrax WMDs, (WMD is not defined as solely nuclear), the US should stand still. Now the US was stupid in giving him those to fight Iran in the 80's. My point is they say that Iraq wasn't part of the War on Terror. Well unless the definition has changed, gassing your own citizens damn sure sounds like terror to me.

 Chemical weapons we gave him

In my opinion, the Republicans can win if they can get voters to vote based on the issues ...

Obhama is a very charismatic speaker (albeit has a speech writer who likes to "borrow" elements from other speakers) who can inspire people but when it comes to the issues he is quite terrifying; he seems like a HUGE government liberal and many of his policies could be considered fascistic.

I agree; he spouts off all of this vapid stuff about "hope" and "change" like he's got some sort of new plan or something, but in the end he's just your standard socialist.

So you wanna stick with our current imperialism and fasttrack to stagflation->depression->collapse?

Bin Laden was never in Iraq, and al-Qaida was never in Iraq before the invasion. Bush had his eye on Saddam since he threatened his daddy back in the day. He needed a reason - a motivation to invade. So, we looked to the CIA and other sources for links to Iraq and 9/11. Nada. So, Bush said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction, and linked Iraq to the terrorists who did the attack, even though none of the hijackers were from Iraq.

Bush had his eye on one thing - making his buddies money. Read this sometime ... it's very, very eye opening.

This is the best way to sum up why we need to leave Iraq. We should leave as soon as the U.N. steps in to help. We should also provide some troops and plenty of financial support.

We need to continue the fight in Afghanistan/Pakistan to get al-Qaida. I'd support using more troops in Afghanistan with faster deployments and returns back to the U.S.

Even though Bush and the Republicans played a part in the upcomming economic downturn, the architect of the house of cards which is now collapsing is Alan Greenspan. In my opinion, about the only thing anyone could do to prevent a similar problem in the future is to fire Ben Bernanke and put someone like Ron Paul in his place.

U really dont get it do u.  Saying "I support the troops" then voting in support of troop withdraw is unpatriotic.  You either support them fully until the job is done or dont support them at all.  I'm sick of hearing people who dont even know what an M16A4 is talk about bull like timetables and withdraw.  Uninformed voters are the biggest noobs of them all.

Oh true Greenspan was a major factor, but the GOP had plenty of time to deal with the looming debt crisis and the so called party of fiscal conservatism wasted it all on their moronic tax cuts, this current crisis is just going to leave us dead in the water, its the looming entitlements and public debt that is going to sink us

I am a Republican mainly because of my Religous views. I used to like McCain but now he trying to get conservatives on his bandwagon and he totally changed his stances in some of the areas in which I supported his Ideals. Right now I don't Like any of the Canidates for either party because of their stance on the war or their stance on immigration.

What's their stance on immigration (and how does it differ from a traditional Republican view)?

My stance on Immigrartion is that it is a human rights issue and thus their should be no limits to people and theys should be able to move from one country to another freely (unless the have a serious criminal record) . The reason why I liked McCain was that he was willing to go againest the conservatives and help the illegals in the United States gain citizenship. This whole building a wall along mexico is a joke when they say it is to protect us if we want to build a wall it should first go across Canada( Longer unmilitarized border and thats how the terrorist got in anyay). Both sets of my grandparents immigrated to the United States in the 1930's from Ireland and Italy.

No offense, but that's a really stupid idea.  What would happen world wide is what does happen in samll countries where the cities are way richer then the countryside.  Everyone who is somewhat poor flocks to the cities (in this case the US) and causes even worse economic problems, both for the city that once did well AND for the places that no longer have the manpower and young workforce to do anything.

People need to stay in their own countries and build up their own economies.  Not controlling immigration would just lead to every rich nation become overburdened by a bunch of people who can't afford to live within that country.

Wow, both Hillary and Obama seem to have a soft attitude towards illegal immigrants, judging by those clips.

- legalize those who are already in the US
- sloppy border control

And what would you do with 12 million illegals and a 2000-mile-long border?

Big ass electrified wall on both boarders and illegal immigrants actually get no benfits whatsoever and harsher penalties on companies that hire them.

Well not electrified as that would kill wild life, but giant wall works fine.

Make being an illegal immigrant worse then not being an illegal immigrant in otherwords.  Make the penalty for being an illegal imigrant harsher then just deportation.

The reason immigration is so screwed up is because so many people immigrate here illegally.
