Forums - Microsoft - MS Says Xbox 360 Sales Were "Not Low" In Japan

If they get that many sales in each region for the XBO, I wonder if they would say the same thing.

One thing forgotten comparing the sales of this gen vs last is the time frame covered. Xbox was on sale for about 3 years. 360 has been on sale for 8 years now! So, no, there is virtually no significant increase in 360 sales!

Note : 1.7 million / 8 = about 212 K
or take one year out still
1.7 million / 7 = about 243 K
still very low!

That's not really how it works and besides the original xbox had stopped selling by the end of that 3 years, so it wouldn't have added that many in the next 5 years.

No, no, that's exactly how it works, and you know what's funny? I totally agree with what you say, they did stop selling Xbox at the end of 3 years. So basically Whatever original Xbox sold, it sold in only 3 years. But this 1.7 million x360 sales are spread over 8 years. So on average, they'd have sold about  600-700 K at the same time frame. And boom, that is NO GROWTH whatsoever, forget how small or large it is!

The sales of the X360 in Japan are pretty sad but the PS3 sales are also not party worthy, I expect that PS4 will do even worse next generation and same for Xone.

Makes me all sad because I enjoyed some of the JRPG's on consoles but I guess those times will not come back.

PS4 will definitely do much better than PS3 in Japan because

- Cheaper

- No serious competition from Nintendo

- More Japanese developer support (who focus more on Sony, than Ninty)

- Easier to develop for, and to port games from PC

- Smaller (which is a factor in Japanese market)

- Not late to the market

- Better Sony Financials

etc...

So I guess Dreamcast sales weren't low either, eh?

No.

What I said was the xbox had ALREADY stopped being BOUGHT before it was taken off sale. So it had already reached its maximum possible lifetime sales. Even if it had been available for another 5 years, it wouldn't have sold any more.  It's really very very simple.

You're wrong.

Why don't you consider that MS have cutted the Xbox prematurely everywhere, had the console delayed in Japan... and off topic Bill Gates said he would sell 500 millions Xbox if i'm not wrong (the guy was pretty delusional... this kind of expectation is like saying he would sell 100 billion Windows O/S in a generation).

But those were not a problem (except the support),  the problem was that they came with nothing to the market. 'It plays blu ray and you can play FF on it Buy it Japan'...   Compared to the PS2-PS one generation the amount of games in Japan is mindblowing.  I don't see a change for PS4...

I don't even know what you are talking about, it's appears to be an incoherent load of nonsense.

But when one of your points is that bill gates was just some delusional fool then you pretty much render your point of view worthless.

Well people can think Sony lead designer for PS3 were a baffon, but Mr. Bill Gates is above all (and you just choose that to not comment on your ridiculous claim that Sony situation in Japan is the same as Xbox in UK)...  when i find the exagerated expectations of Bill Gates about the sells I will edit this post and include it.

Now that's a great spin!

I wish Microsoft would be a Nintendo third party developer. I mean Microsoft understands how business works. You have to keep trying untill it works. It costs money and time to be successful and every year/gen you are absent makes it harder the next time you try. Long term profit requires short term loss unless you are really really lucky thats basic knowledge.

Third party devs are a bunch of lazy idiots :)

EDIT: I guess its not actually developers being lazy  but shareholders being totally retarded and greedy so devs cant try even if they would want to.
