Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft on Xbox One Vertical Orientation: 'Do it at your own risk'

Meh, the news doesn't bother me.
Never met anyone that had their Wii, 360, or PS3 stand vertically.

It has a hard-drive so I will use it like MS intended when I buy Xbone, just like I did with every computer I had and have.

Hard Drives don't care if they are mounted horizontally, vertically or even upside down or even loosly hanging via a cable. :)

Given how they work I have a bad feeling when they are not operated horizontally. With an ssd I couldn't care less, of course.

Servers, desgined to be run 24/7, come in different HDD orientations. The position of the hdd doesn't matter.

What logic?  My post is a merely an observation.... and no, I dont think its a bad design choice.  I doubt there are more than a very few who would not buy a console merely because it couldn't be placed vertically.

regardless of your intent your statement reads as a demasculating insult to those that use the vertical positioning of their console.  i know i did with my wii and everyone i know (back in college) had their ps2s vertical as well.  i honestly have a hard time believeling there is any correlation between console positioning and either children or bedrooms.  ..but feel free to back up your statement with facts and figures if this truely has been observed.

OT - it's always nice to have the option but i use my ps3 in the horizontal as it better suits the athethics of the space in which i place my console.

Pretty much confirmed that neither X1 or PS4 can be placed vertically.

PS4 has a vertical stand. Sony always displays it vertical.

Even the official box art for the console shows it vertical. What you just said is absolutely false.

Oh ya, sry I was thinking of it without one, and with its uneven shape it wouldn't be physically possible. lol nm.

I am fairly sure that even without the stand it has no issues standing up. The front and back are uneven, but the sides are totally level with one another.

Not that I would advise not using a stand. While it could stand on it's own it surely isn't very safe.

I will be getting ps4 next year. When I get it I will replace the HDD with SSD. I wish xbox one also had this option.

So you're going to spend another $200-300 just for a slight boost in game loading performance on top of the $400 console price?
