Fantastic news... most games I own have digital versions... so I will can play may backlog on PS4.

THAT'S AMAZING.

Like I said that I wanted to Gaikai works... I said in the past that for me the best backward compatibility will be if you put the PS3 disc on PS4 tray and can play this game over Gaikai... so all games I own in physical versions I can play on PS4 via BC.

That is even better than what I was hopping.

Thanks Sony... now I won't need to have my PS3 (my little brother will receive a gift soon).

mot to burst your buble, but they said it only works for 4 games.

"The $10 PS3 to PS4 upgrade program was first announced by Sony at Gamescom. The offer applies to four games that will be available on both platforms -- Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Watch Dogs, and Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag -- and works with both digital and physical copies of the PS3 game, though the process is slightly different for the two."

So games that if you had a PS4 you could buy the ps4 version of?

That seems strange.

Pretty nifty trick to deter consumer end people from trying to sell their copy, and keeping the upgrade. It's an interesting move for sure.

What were you hoping for?  This is also only for games where there is a PS3 and PS4 version. I think you may have misunderstood.

Whilst this is quite nice, I really don't see why it's a big deal at all.

He means the PS4 being able to recognize the PS3 disc. He's hoping that when Gaikai is released, he can put the PS3 disk in, the PS4 recognize the game, and then stream the game to the PS4. While this is definitely no confirmation, it does prove the technology to do that is available with the PS4.

Digital games = Long time rental. Retail FTW. All hail retail version.

It's cool but I think there isn't anything to be so excited about.

It cant be said for psn only games. I waited a long time for journey collectors edition. After getting journey collectors edition I played those games.

i thought gaikai was a work in progress and nowhere near redy

screw that, that takes away the whole advantage of it. your pretty muchjust paying extra money for one game. assuming you must keep the ps3 disc in more than the fist time you install it
