Forums - General - How can I change the size of a movie in WMP....if I can???

Hello fellow members of VGChartz, I have a small problem with a movie that I watch from Windows Media Player?  The problem is that instead of the movie playing in a size that's shaped like a normal screen, it is shaped the opposite, with the length or width of the movie is shrunk/squished in to where it's difficult to watch.  I downloaded this and other movies from my sister and were all fine/normal.  All the other movie sizes are still fine except for this one movie.

If anyone knows what's wrong or can provide with some assistance would be most appreciated!

Do you mean it has a bad aspect ratio, or that the whole thing has been shrunk? Either way you could try vlc at www.videolan.org or download the latest k-lite codec pack and see if that fixes it.

I too recommend using a different media player. I haven't used VLC, but if I ever need to watch videos in windows I use Media Player Classic (which comes with the K-lite codec pack).

Thanks for the info. So if I were to download this would I be able to watch movies and videos that I normally watch on WMP on this VLC Media Player?

Yeah, VLC is one of the best media players IMHO, as it doesn't use codecs as such. The only thing it has problems with is DRM files, due to the non-standard codec thing. K-lite codec pack updates about every 6 months wont go amiss either, as the tools and alternative codecs(Quicktime & Real) get updated.
