Forums - Microsoft - XBO has a massive peak bandwidth advantage over PS4

This topic has not been talked about.  The topics were the dGPU which was nix by MS.  The topic on bandwidth and how the X1 can reach the peak of 209GBs MS stated has not been discussed.  Its a interesting topic because of the design decisions MS put into the ESRAM.  Why split the memory into 4 8MB chips.  Is this something to do with with how MS believe textures and data should be loaded into the ESRAM.  Can all 4 be used as one contigous block or is it more efficient to use each one individually.  If both can read and write at the same time how does this help developers manage data.  Does MS has tech within DirectX that is more efficient with this design decision.  Is the usage of Tiled Resources better with this design.  There are a host of questions that are directly revelant to the OP that isn't about fanboys holding on to secrete sauce or not being able to realize the Power of the PS4.

There is a lot to the design of the ESRAM that no one as of yet has a solid idea why MS designed it this way.  I have some thoughts of my own but I entered this thread to see any anyone had any thing to add or have any reason to debunk.  Instead you get the same tired responses from people who favor a different console.  Its these types of comments that derail a topic into what we have now, Penis size.

Its probably more my fault.  Having a more technical background and being at the age I am at now, I get no enjoyment from off topic banter anymore.  I am always seeking for better understanding of certain technical topics and my expectations of threads like this need to be way lowered.

Yes, it has been discussed. It has been brought up on these forums before and it has been argued about on other forums like NeoGAF. This may be news to you but that doesn't mean it wasn't discusssed before.

Let just put it this way.  I have read pretty much every thread though i do not post in all and this topic has not been discussed.  As I stated above, no one not even on NeoGaf has discussed the arch of the ESRAM and how it matters to either DirectX11.2 or maybe some other tech MS has implemented.  I visit NeoGaf a lot and there are no real technical discussion on how MS ESRAM arch works and why they designed it the way they have.  I also read other tech blogs and articles where people are still not sure exactly what MS is trying to do and how the ESRAM really work within the system. Non of the things I mentioned has an answer and thus they are still revelent point of discussion.  While you think these topic are covered, I know for a fact they have not because its a subject I am interested in and have done a lot of research on.  If you can point me to where this info is discussed and not with bunk post but actual revelant information on the subject, then I will rest my case.

I don't posess any of the answers to your questions, but it seems that you may have an opinion on some of these.  Because I am actually interested in the answers, can you share your thoughts?

OMG! another one of these damn threads?!!!

*im not saying the the OP fuck you or anyone. but i been waiting to use this gif for months!*

Be advised that posts like this get reported, a lot. Three reports of this post alone in the queue currently, more of posts like it.

Given that the matter of PS4 and Xbox One power is still up for debate (the consoles aren't even out!) responses like this will be more frowned upon than summary responses to other "settled issues" (like, say, Nintendo is doomed threads)

Let's try to keep things civil.

LoL at the GIF...

On second thought, i'm locking this thread as a trouble magnet. It has long since fallen off the rails.

Heed my prior warning, however. We're not going to stand aside and let threads that posit theories on open matters (e.g. the relations in power of an unreleased console!) be flooded by dismissive negativity any longer. It stops tonight.
