Forums - Sony - Prediction: How much will the Vita have sold by the time the year ends?

With the Vita 2000 launching this October in lots of bold colors for the equivalent of $20 less (18,980 yen as opposed to 20,890 yen), the Vita TV for the equivalent of $100, some heavy hitting Japanese software (God Eater 2, Project Diva 2, Shin Gundam Musou, etc etc), and even a decent western lineup (Tearaway, Killzone Mercenaries, Fifa 2014) plus a modest $50 price cut, it seems like now is the perfect time for the Vita to shine.

What do you guys think? How many Vitas will have been sold by the time the year ends?

Not enough sadly. Maybe 4.5 million.

Be bold you guys :P

Dunno lol. Its 5.7m right now and i see some possibilities:
1: PS Vita TV suceed (and get tracked).
2: PS Vita TV Fails(Or not get tracked).
3: Tearaway get amazing sales(not week 1) in Europe
4: Tearaway fails everywhere
5: Killzone get amazing sales (not week 1) in North America
6: Killzone Fails everywhere

if 1, 3 and 5 happens, Vita will sell more than 6m through sep, oct, nov, and dec. Standing at 11.7
If 2, 4 and 6 happens, Vita will be lucky if sells more than 4.3m and reach 10m total.

And also there can be a mix of those two "if".

Vita is having good sales in Japan this year, and with God Eater 2 is making his path to be the best selling Vita game on Japan week 1, cant see what can go wrong there. I mean, it already sold more than 2012 alone. Lets see how people will react to the Slim version and the Vita TV.

Dont know how Europe will react to Tearaway and seems like Killzone, by not getting bundled, will be a very, very slow burner. Just like Uncharted, it might hit 1m someday without bundles.

Just a point of reference for people, the Vita sold about 1.7 million from the beginning of September (where VGchartz is about to start at next update) to the end of December last year.

I agree, how Tearaway does in Europe, and how Killzone does in the US are probably the two most significant wildcards here.

8-10 million

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

7.4 million is my guess.

Total sales or 2013 sales? Either ways way too optimistic. lol

@OT - 6 to 7 mil max TOTAL at the end of 2013.

Lifetime

In Japan it has the redesign whicj is slightly cheaper, Vita TV and God Eater 2 along with a few other Japan centric games.

In the west it has a price cut, Killzone, Tearaway and last holiday it was possible to find Vita for $179 with a game and memory card. This holiday I wouldnt be surprised to see a Killzone bundle with a 4-8gb memory card for $149.

Also its already at 5.7m with 4 momths to go and sold 1.7m in the laat 4 months of 2012 and has more going for it this year. So u only expect .3-1.3m for the rest of the year? Ill be more specific with my prediction, 8-8.5m

7.14 million LTD

Killzone and Tearaway will be sales flops :(

Not much... And it looks like Killzone already bombed in Europe (and sold like 10K in Japan). FIFA 14 will not set it on fire like previous FIFA or NFS games... Tearaway is new IP...

Japanese lineup is not bad, but release Vita 2000 same week as Pokemon X/Y... Lol, what a stupid idea.
