Don't see this happening. The iPad 2 is worth more than that (and more than a Surface RT).

No it isn't. The ipad 2 is worth around 300ish. Not 400-500. Yes it's worth more than 200, but not more than an RT.

A Surface RT is $350 - $450 now, but the iPad 2 is $399 - $529. Check the website.

They are starting to get some traction I think with the Surface (esp. the pro one) and with the new models around the corner, this is a smart move.

If this were true, Microsoft wouldn't keep piling up inducements to buy a Surface.

Though as inducements go, this one is pretty clever. A has been pointed out in this thread, the used value of an iPad is well over $200, so Microsoft is probably reselling them at cost to a refurbisher.

I would love to ditch my ipad 2, but it is a top of the line (at the time) 64 mb with built in 3g. It's value is closer to $400. Also, they got me with close to $400 in games and movies on it. It's not just the device. So, I will be keeping the ipad for quite a bit longer. I also have a Surface pro and it is awesome. Never had the battery run out yet. The real problem is that the storage is way too small for a PC with full windows on it. The software doesn't allow you to install any software or apps to external hard drives or memory sticks. I am hoping to upgrade to The Pro 2 with 256 or even 512 gig if it has it.

Omg! This is pure evil! Why would you take away one’s iPad and give them a shitty Microsoft tablet? My iPad does it all for me and no matter what sort of new tablet Microsoft will launch, I will never even think about exchanging!
