My first game was Sonic The Hedgehog.

I'm nostalgic all the time and I miss the old play styles, and games that required some imagination. But you can't go backward. I do play old games now and then to relive the experience, though it's never the same as the first time.

The good old days, loads of time, no responsibilities, no principles, no money either, but going over to a friend's house with a case of 3.5" disks and copying every game back and forth. Then spending hours trying new games out together. All the time and energy in the world to play civilization into the early morning.

Everquest was another experience that I can never get back. A new form of online gaming, a huge world, everything was new. That's the problem with replaying old games, they bring some feelings back, but the excitement of discovery isn't there anymore.
The best HD remake for me was SotC. I never explored much of the land in the ps2 version so there was still plenty of virgin ground to wander around and discover beautiful places while hunting for lizards.

I'm a bit weary about Windwaker HD, I still have Okami HD sitting on my HDD. Both games I already explored extensively on the GC and PS2. Now I have less time then back then, knowing everything that's going to happen makes it less desirable to play again. I'll still get Windwaker HD, on the flip side of not having much time to game myself anymore is that I now have kids to share them with.
