Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii Fit - Will it ever be released?

Its been over 2 months since Wii Fit launched in Japan, yet there is still not a release date for it in the US or Europe.

What exactly do you all think Nintendo is waiting for in the transition to other regions?

Enough balance boards to go around, probably.

I think the current belief is that it takes a lot more work to create balance boards than it does to press discs (this is obvious) and Nintendo can't pump out balance boards fast enough to prepare for launch. Now that sales seem down in Japan, maybe Nintendo will be able to stockpile a few million balance boards so they can launch in the US and Europe.

Actually, we don't know Wii fit is in stock in Japan.  It's still selling 70-100k/week.

So how much of a work out does the wii fit give you. I mean balance boards don't seem to be that much of a work out. Also does it track your age like braintraining? This wii fit thing could get me to buy a wii if it really works.

Well from what I have seen there are some parts that are fairly strenuous and some that are more fun. It tracks your BMI so you can see what progress you are making. The one I think that looks the coolest is the jogging one, where you go jogging on some sort of mountain trail.

Making all those bigger balance boards takes some time.

Nintendo still doomed?

If you are expecting to get the same workout from WiiFit that you would get from a gym, then you will be disapointed.  If you are looking at it as a fun way to get some moderate exercise, then you should enjoy it.

probably when they have enough Balance boards availible for the western markets and the japanese markets. plus probably bigger ones for the west

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

EDIT: Nope, looks like I was wrong.  I gues sthey are making a "Western" version that supports 330 pounds instead of 300.  Seems eroneous to me....

No its never going to be released, cause Nintendo knows it won't sell haha. That's definetly there reasoning.
