Forums - Gaming - Titanfall won’t match Call of Duty sales, says Zampella

VG247

Respawn Entertainment’s Titanfall may be generating hype everywhere, but Respawn Entertainment co-founder Vince Zampella has a realistic approach to the shooter’s sales prospects.

In a radio interview with KFI AM60, Zampella acknowledged that the shooter is a new IP and would not be as huge as Call of Duty.

“You build up momentum over the years when you put out a new brand. It’s starting over, so it won’t sell as well. It’s a new brand.”

He added: “But for us it’s kind of a passion project. We love it. It’s something new.

“It’s taking the old paradigm of these shooter games being very grounded and two-dimensional and now adding this verticality to it and making it something that’s a new experience; something that people haven’t seen before.”

Zampella also confirmed the game will be priced at $60 when it launches next year on PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One

You can get your hands on a playable demo of the game at Eurogamer Expo this month.

Thanks, Gamespot.

Yes it will once the reviews come in and award the game a 99 on metacritic.

"I've Underestimated the Horse Power from Mario Kart 8, I'll Never Doubt the WiiU's Engine Again"

ROFL, what kind of dumb ass feels the need to even bring this up (directed at the interview, not Nsanity)? Of course it won't match COD numbers. That's about as obvious as you can get.

Hold on. I'm gonna go write an article about how Driveclub numbers won't beat Mario Kart numbers. It's going to be a very informative read.

A new IP isn't gonna sell as much as the highest selling franchise out now?  OMG this is huge news!

Well did anyone think that it would srll on the level of Call of Duty? I mean not only the fact that it's only on Xbox platforms and PC kind of limits the games sales.

Multiplayer only game? Ew.

For some people, any Titanfall news is good news.

Seriously who would even ask an idiotic question like that.

Sony fanboys at it again, of course it will I mean have you seen titanfall

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

That's pretty obvious considering COD is a developed franchise with the largest sales each year and comes out on every system, while Titanfall as of now will only be on 3. Can Titanfall eventually match Cod sales, possibly if it goes multiplat and if COD keeps dropping in sales year on year as it has been but Titanfall is a long way from even coming close to Cod sales.
