The amount of people going to the shops and picking up 2DS and/ or Pokemon that week means there are more people in those shops seeing the new PS Vita, which means the strength of the 2DS/ Pokemon launch will actually increase sales of other products as well, due to the increased foot traffic.

It's natural Sony would exploit that.

The new one isn't really cheaper. Everybody has been looking at the tax not included price and comparing that to the tax included price of the original vita.

The new Vita price is 19,929 yen, while the old vita price is 19,980 yen or a difference of about 50 cents.

The same way it works on the original model: perfectly.

The speakers are right between your thumbs and your hand. The analogue sticks force you to not cover them up.
