With the amount of money they make, it's nothing happen anything time within the next 20 years.

Nintendo has been around for 100+ years the day they die will be when they lose the ability to adapt, and since believe it or not they are a good company they will adapt to market needs and survive.
But they've been nonexistent in my life since I transitioned from my GB>GC>GBA>PS2, never will buy another Nintendo product for myself so its kinda like they are dead to me.

Are you aware the 3DS/2DS sales will reach 50 millions units in a few months? Nintendo won't leave this market anytime soon.

What is your definition of a few months?  To hit 50 million by the end of the year would require the 3DS to ship ~35% more in the Oct-Dec quarter than the DS ever did.

rape a dolphin maybe?

no seriously I won't be playing as much games but I've said that in many doom threads about Nintendo before :P

people shouldn't worry though the media just likes to blow things up more than they should

Enron would like to have a word with you in the woods.

Many banks that have more pornographic revenues than Nintendo in a period of 5 years had to be revived by US citizens money. Just to scam us again. That's another story.

Gaming market is a risk taking place where everyone is at risk.

Sheeeeshh....

how many treads about the same old issue to we need ?
People has been talking about Nintendo death since 1996... and it´s still in the business, with the best seller game dedicated device (3ds) right now and a lot of money in the bank

It´s clear that the WiiU is suffering, but we must take into account that this holiday it will be the cheapest of the big three home consoles and with lots of popular franchises coming. So it will have some market life.

Nintendo itself will never die, they can always make money with their IPs, but if someday it quits (and I bet this will happen someday with EVERY console maker) it will probably continue to make games for PCs and whatever device people will be using to play. And making money with IPs licences

Your premise is incorrect.   The fact is, Nintendo is in absolutely no danger of dying.   Besides the fact that they have a market capitalization of over $15 billion, they also have somewhere between $8-$10 billion in cash on hand, not to mention the fact that 3DS sales are actually up year over year, and that's before the new model revision comes to market in October, along with a new Pokemon and Zelda.

Nintendo is at about $4.7 billion in cash and cash equivalents.

So far for the calendar year the 3DS is down YoY in both sales and shipments.  If VGC numbers are to be believed it has fallen further behind in recent weeks, it was averaging 200k+ a week in August last year.  Monster Hunter and Pokemon will certainly do their parts to turn it around, but Nintendo was forecasting a 29% increase for the fiscal year.  Starting from behind isn't the best way to reach that goal.

True, although they're ending much stronger overseas this year than last, when New Super Mario Bros 2 did okay-not-great. Pokemon and Zelda will be a big double-play for the more crucial time of the year.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Shortly after going third-part

Don't hold your breathe on that.  If Nintendo don't make another console, their first party games will stay on future Nintendo handhelds. Nintendo company is proud and will never release on another console.

If Nintendo died from gaming - I'll just move on to the next thing.

Wont be the end of the world. Same thing if Sony or MS died from gaming.

PC and smartphones? I could see myself going the PC route in the future (far in the future) if the big three went down. But I draw the line with smartphones... I can't play them more than 15 minutes... It wouldn't be the same .
